The Estate is proudly South African, proudly KwaZulu-Natal and proudly Central Drakensberg. This mountain blend is a tribute to the heritage of the Central Drakensberg and to the SAN, the first peoples to inhabit this magnificent landscape. Inspired by their enduring connection to this land, we continue in our own way to build a wine region of distinction, rooted in a strong sense of place, heritage and perseverance.

Vinification

This blend is our flagship wine. It is a blend of Pinotage, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with each variety vinified separately before being blended to create our UNESCO 985. The grapes are fermented for 5 days with regular punch-downs. The wine is then matured for at least 18 months. Pinotage makes up at least 50% of the blend, ensuring that it remains true to its South African heritage, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot add further depth and complexity.

Food Notes

This blend was barrel matured in 225L French Oak barrels for 48 months. The wines were then blended and bottled in 2025. This wine has been rested in the bottle for 12 months so it can be enjoyed immediately.
