Historically wine in South Africa has been a Western Cape affair, but recently Justin Vermaak, a formidable entrepreneur and farmer, teamed up with Mauritz Koster, award-winning wheat farmer and Andri Hanekom, highy qualified winemaster decided to combine their love of wine and their immense admiration for the Drakensberg, into birthing the first wine estate in KwaZulu-Natal.
Their vision to produce world-class wines in a sustainable, environmentally friendly culture.
Cathedral Peak seemed to fit the bill , and back in 2007 the three gentleman started their endeavour and have proudly produced a surprisingly astounding series of wines. And with further development and plans to further develop the estate into a residential wine estate the future of Cathedral Peak Wine Estate looks bright.
