The Cathedral Peak Wine Estate is proud to announce that their Pinotage 2015 won a gold award at the recent Michelangelo International Wine Awards and the Merlot Jerepigo 2016 a silver award. This was the first competition entered by the Estate.
The Michelangelo International wine awards is unique in South Africa in that all the judges are hand-picked wine experts from representing all seven continents around the globe. The wines are judges blind by a panel of 5 judges using the 100-point international OIV-system. This year they were 26 top international wine judges from 22 countries.
The results were presented at Lord Charles Hotel, Somerset West. A total of 670 wines were awarded. Only 35% of the 126 Pinotages entered received an award.
